Submitted by Barry Lewis of Montgomery County Sports and More 🏈 The regular season wrapped up Friday night with Week 9 action across the Monon Athletic Conference, and the final week brought rivalry games, big performances and one last chance for teams to build momentum before sectional play. Crawfordsville 21, Frankfort 14 The Athenians closed out the regular season with a win, knocking off Frankfort 21-14. Crawfordsville finished conference play at 1-6. Greencastle 35, Southmont 28 Southmont battled Greencastle in one of the tighter games of the night, but the Tiger Cubs came away with the 35-28 victory. The Mounties finished Monon Athletic Conference play at 4-3. North Putnam 49, North Montgomery 6 North Montgomery closed its conference schedule on the road against North Putnam, with the Cougars earning a 49-6 victory. The Chargers finished MAC play at 2-5. Cascade 36, Western Boone 10 The conference championship belonged to Cascade. The Cadets defeated Western Boone 36-10 to complete a perfect 7-0 run through the Monon Athletic Conference. Western Boone finished second at 6-1, followed by North Putnam at 5-2. With the regular season complete, attention now turns to the IHSAA postseason as Crawfordsville, North Montgomery, Southmont and the rest of the conference prepare for sectional football.
